What is a Hard Disk?

A computer hard disk (HDD) is a non-volatile  data storage device. Non volaltile refers to storage devices that maintain stored data when turned off. All computers need storage device , and HDD's  are just  one example of type of storage.

Since the first hard drives appeared in 1956, data storage technology has evolved by leaps and bounds, although its operation remains faithful to the foundations of the first hard drives.

How a Hard Disk actually works:

The operation of a hard disk is "simple", the heads place magnetic marks along the tracks of the platter with 3 different positions, 1, 0 or neutral and computer systems are capable of interpreting that binary code as information. When we save a file to our hard disk, it writes a sequence of ones and zeros to the platters at speeds measured in microseconds.

What is the hard disk used for?

The hard drive is used to store all the information on the computer; It is the computer device with the greatest storage capacity, without this component the PC would not have the capacity to save all the data used by users.
